May 4th Thoughts So Far...

Considering something very off character for me this May 4th. So obviously I like my minifigures but I also like good builds, as close to figure scale as possible. So I am not likely to buy a set like the Rebel U-Wing just for the figures. Even though I really like the look of them, they are something I will find later on BrickLink. With the U-Wing out, there are a few more sets that are contenders. The UCS Slave 1 is of course one of them, however it is something that's yet to be revealed. Should this also miss the mark in terms of the build I find myself drawn to something I never thought I would be...

C3-PO Buildable Figure...

The C3-PO Buildable Figure...

In past weeks I have found myself drawn to the C3-PO Buildable Figure. Which even as I type just feels strange to be, I can't state enough how much this isn't my kind of thing. However I have found myself with a little bit more of an eye on the future lately, I am hoping to get into my own house and space in the next year or so and I can't help but think about a small, well curated display. I have big studio and content plans in addition to this, but I think this 3PO with switched out printed eyes of course would make a great addition to a display. Those eyes though are simply awful, surprised at Lego there, a simple printed round tile would have been the way to go. Now obviously C3-PO alone isn't much of a display, fortunately this hasn't gone un-noticed by Lego...

Buildable R2-D2...

Obviously it goes without saying you can't have 3PO without R2, and it hasn't escaped my notice, how well these two sets pair. They make a wonderful display and there is room for creativity. A small base with black edges in diorama fashion with some desert terrain would look very cool. Let us also not forget the bonus minifigures, the UCS 3PO, the preferred R2 and that Bonus Malak. All figures I already own so a bit of value can be clawed back there too.

So as it stands this is a serious possibility for me this year, of course we need to see a few more reveals but not a lot is getting me going this year in terms of May 4th. It is also worth mentioning the promo, if the promo is something that doesn't interest me I may simply decide to treat myself on Bricklink instead, that is something I have done in the past when May 4th has lacked. There is a lot going on during May 4th however and I am sure there will be something, somewhere to get excited about. May the fourth be with you...
